BIO INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION

Governor Heineman, NU President Milliken, and Lincoln Mayor Beutler Attend

Bio Nebraska led the Nebraska delegation to Chicago for BIO International, the world’s largest gathering of the biotechnology industry. Governor Dave Heineman, NU President J B Milliken, Lincoln Mayor Chris Beutler and Bio Nebraska Chairman Jim McClurg were in attendance.

The BIO International Convention attracts approximately 20,000 attendees from around the world, including more than 500 members of the international press. Convention attendees hear from global biotechnology leaders, learn about the latest biotech innovations and network with their peers from established and emerging biotech companies, research institutions, services providers and biotech hubs.

In a report released at BIO International, the Nebraska bioscience employment grew 19.2% between 2001 and 2008. This compares with the national average of 15.8% growth in employment.
