Bio Nebraska and Creighton University’s Professional Science Masters Program Co-Host First CU at Lunch (June 23, 2009; Omaha, NE) – Bio Nebraska Life Sciences Association and Creighton University’s Professional Science Masters program co-hosted the first “CU at Lunch” at Creighton University’s Harper Center on Friday, June 19, 2009. The lunch event was the first of a series that will feature nationally-known speakers on current topics in the biosciences industry. Friday’s speaker was Dr. Mark Ahn, professor and chair of science and technology entrepreneurship at Victoria University of Wellington. Prior to entering academia, Dr. Ahn was founder and CEO of Hana Biosciences, and he also has held management positions at Genentech, Amgen, and Bristol-Myers Squibb. He currently serves as Chair of the Scientific Advisory Board of Zygem and is on advisory boards of several biotechnology startups. “Dr. Ahn is an engaging and knowledgeable speaker who makes the case that the biosciences represent tremendous opportunity,” said Amy Recker, executive director for Bio Nebraska Life Sciences Association. “The growth potential within the bioscience sector involves multiple disciplines, so we are pleased to have Creighton University as a leader in addressing this educational need.” Dr. Ahn is teaching the first course in Creighton’s new Professional Science Masters program curriculum, Current Issues in the Biosciences, the weekends of June 19 and 26. Creighton’s new Professional Science Masters degree program in Bioscience Management is a 15-month, executive style weekend program which combines bioscience, business and law. One of the first of its kind in the U.S. and unique in the Midwest, all courses are custom-designed for those currently in or seeking careers in a variety of bioscience business contexts.
