Bio Nebraska and Monsanto to Host Ag Meeting at Water Utilization Learning Center (September 10, 2009; Omaha, NE) – Bio Nebraska Life Sciences Association and Monsanto will host an agricultural meeting on Tuesday, September 22, 2009, at Monsanto’s new Water Utilization Learning Center in Gothenburg, Nebraska. The lunch event will be held between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. with an optional tour following the meeting. Monsanto’s Water Utilization Learning Center is the first of its kind in agriculture. The $6 million facility was developed by Monsanto to share industry-leading knowledge and research, particularly in the area of water management. The Water Utilization Learning Center allows farmers and other stakeholders the opportunity to learn about water-use efficiency technologies in agriculture in order to increase crop productivity and maximize the crop’s water use. “The Learning Center opened in June 2009, and we are excited to have the opportunity to collaborate with Bio Nebraska for a discussion on agronomic technologies in genetics, biotech and agronomic practices that enable yield increases while reducing inputs,” said Chandler Mazour, Gothenburg Learning Center Lead, Monsanto. “Water management is critical in developing a holistic systems-based approach to agriculture.” “Our members are looking forward to viewing this one-of-a-kind facility,” said Amy Recker, executive director for Bio Nebraska Life Sciences Association. “We are pleased to collaborate with Monsanto to highlight some of the technologies being developed to improve agriculture in the coming years. This is exactly the type of bioscience activity that thrives in our state.” For more information about Monsanto’s new Water Utilization Learning Center, please visit http://www.monsanto.com/learningcenters/gothenburg/default.asp.
