Bio Nebraska Announces Annual Meeting Agenda for April 15

Nominations Being Accepted for Governor’s Bioscience Award

 (March 16, 2010; Omaha, NE) – Bio Nebraska Life Sciences Association will celebrate a successful year at the 2010 annual meeting, at the Embassy Suites located at 12520 Westport Parkway in La Vista, Nebraska. Join us to hear from bioscience industry experts and witness Governor Dave Heineman present the second annual Governor’s Bioscience Award.

 The membership meeting begins at 4:00 p.m. on April 15, 2010, and will include presentations by Marianne Clarke and Lisa Drake. Ms. Clarke is director of the Washington, D.C., office for Battelle’s Technology Partnership Practice and is involved with the development of Nebraska’s strategic bioscience plan. She is one of the primary authors of Biotechnology Industry Organization’s State Initiatives Reports. Ms. Drake, director of government affairs for Monsanto, is responsible for managing the state and local government affairs team. She is on the board of directors for the Colorado BioScience Association.

 The public is invited to the meeting, keynote presentation and award ceremony at the Embassy Suites in La Vista. Hors d’oeuvres will be served after the Governor’s Bioscience Award ceremony.

“The 2010 annual meeting is a milestone for Bio Nebraska. We are entering our fifth year as an association and will celebrate by discussing a roadmap for the Nebraska bioscience industry,” stated Bio Nebraska Executive Director Amy Recker. “There is no greater celebration of the Nebraska bioscience industry than this gathering of industry leaders. We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Governor Heineman in presenting the second annual Governor’s Bioscience Award at this event.”

 The 2010 Governor’s Bioscience Award recognizes an individual who has made a significant contribution to the bioscience industry in Nebraska. Any individual who positively impacts the state’s bioscience industry through innovation, public policy, investment, business creation or leadership is eligible for the award. The nominee is not required to be a member of Bio Nebraska. Nomination forms are available on Bio Nebraska’s Web site and are due by March 20, 2010.
